SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch for this weekend to a Winter Storm Warning, which is in effect from noon on Saturday to 6 p.m on Sunday.

The 6 p.m. update from the NWS on Friday predicted "total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected," which is an increase from the prior forecast from the NWS which stated "total snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch possible."

The storm watch from the NWS also states that "travel could be very difficult" and that "a Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible."
