SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ - Somerset County is definitely a happy place to live.
The Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon region has been named No. 10 in the Top 10 list of happiest metro areas by the National Bureau of Economic Research.
“We have many things to be thankful for here in Somerset County, and I think our quality of life has a definite impact on residents’ happiness,” said Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione in a release. “Our educational institutions, government services, recreation areas, employment opportunities and housing options are among the best anywhere.”
The list looked at metro areas with populations of more than 1 million as of 2010, and were identified by the private nonprofit research organization.
The other top 10, according to the list, were Richmond-Petersburg, Virginia; Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News, Virginia; Washington D.C.; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Atlanta, Georgia; Houston, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; and West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, Florida.
