Somerset County has been rated No. 10 in the Top 10 happiest places to live according to the National Bureau of Economic Research.
Recently, Movoto.com’s real estate blog named Somerset as the fifth best county in the nation.
The National Bureau of Economic Research named the Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon region as No. 10 in its Top 10 list of happiest metro areas. The 10 happiest metro areas with populations over 1 million as of 2010 were: Richmond-Petersburg, VA; Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News, VA; Washington, DC; Raleigh-Durham, NC; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; Jacksonville, FL; Nashville, TN; West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL; and Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon, NJ.
“We have many things to be thankful for here in Somerset County, and I think our quality of life has a definite impact on residents’ happiness,” said Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione. “Our educational institutions, government services, recreation areas, employment opportunities and housing options are among the best anywhere.”
