Somerset Hills YMCA Hosts 24th Annual Golf Classic On June 2

May 25, 2014 at 9:27 PM

BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset Hills YMCA will hold its annual Golf Classic on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Roxiticus Golf Club in Mendham, New Jersey, in support of the Y’s Annual Campaign.

As a cause-driven organization with a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y offers everyone an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The Y’s Annual Campaign provides financial assistance to those in our community who are struggling emotionally, physically and/or financially. The Annual Campaign is supported through generous donations from individuals and corporate sponsorships, as well as through Y fundraising events. The Golf Classic is one such event.

The Golf Classic receives several sponsors that contribute to the overall success of the event. Returning as the presenting sponsor is Couch Braunsdorf Insurance Group. Additional sponsors include The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Fellowship Senior Living, Franklin Mutual Insurance Company and Investors Bank as gold sponsors; The Eric Roos Allstate Insurance Agency, The Olde Mill Inn and Grain House Restaurant, PNC Bank, and Technogym as silver sponsors; August eTech, James F. Hurley Insurance Agency Corp., Spire Group PC, and Stewart Title Guaranty Company as patron sponsors.

“We are proud to have the support of these prestigious sponsors for the Golf Classic,” commented David M. Carcieri, President and CEO of the Somerset Hills YMCA. “It speaks volumes about their desire to help individuals in need within our community and about their belief in the Y’s cause, which is to strengthen the community by nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.”

Through the Annual Campaign the Y distributed over $625,000 in financial assistance to more than 500 qualifying individuals and families in 2013, which enabled many children to have a safe, enriching environment for child care, after school care and summer camp, as well as to participate in programs that promote healthy living. Financial assistance requests have doubled over the past six years among Somerset Hills residents, which stresses the importance of Y fundraisers like the Golf Classic.

In addition to direct financial assistance, the Annual Campaign provided over $300,000 in support of mission-based programs and services that benefit the community, such as Career Forum – a program to offer professional skills and networking opportunities to individuals in job transition; Saturdays in Motion – a recreational program for children with autism and their families; LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA – a program to help cancer survivors begin the journey to recovery; Achievers – a program for adults with special needs to learn career skills that improve job retention; Y Splash – a low cost program to teach preschool age children water safety and swimming skills; and Carousel Kids – a summer program for children with special needs, to name a few.

“The Golf Classic is the premiere fundraising event for the Somerset Hills YMCA, which contributes to the Y’s ability to help the individuals and families in our community who need it most,” commented Kevin Martyn, Golf Classic Chair and member of the Somerset Hills YMCA Community Advisory Board. “When we join together to support the Y’s cause, we help everyone to learn, grow and thrive…children, adults and seniors. Now, that is a strong community.”

Playing and non-playing sponsorships are still available. To become a sponsor, to register, or for more information regarding the Golf Classic, contact Julie Pascarella at 908.766.7898 x343 or jpascarella@somersethillsymca.org.
