WAYNE, NJ – We have something to celebrate this week!  This is the first ever Wayne weekly coronavirus update report where there has been ZERO deaths of Wayne residents to report. Also, there has been ZERO new deaths to report for the month of August, so far.  ZERO!   (Editor's note: Zero is my new favorite number.)

This report runs from Thursday, Aug 6 through Wednesday, August 12.

  • Twenty new cases were reported between July 30 – Aug 5
  • Twenty new cases were reported between July 23 – July 29
  • Twelve new cases were reported between July 16 – July 22
  • Sixteen new cases were reported between July 9 – July 15
  • Seventeen new cases were reported between July 2 – July 8
  • Nine new cases were reported between June 25 – July 1
  • Fifteen new cases were reported between June 18 – June 24
  • Twenty-two new cases were reported between June 11 – June 17.
  • Twenty-six new cases were reported between June 4 – June 10
    • Total number of Wayne residents who have tested positive: 1,528

Positive cases include:

  • Men: 5
  • Women: 8
  • Average Age: 48
  • Age Range: 19 - 87

Of Note:

The lasted reported death of a Wayne resident due to COVID-19 was on July 31 (one death was reported). This is the longest streak of days with zero deaths reported since the first death was announced in late March. In June, we had a streak of eight days. In July, we had a streak of seven days. To put things in perspective, there were only  8 days out of 31 in May where a death was not reported.

The weekly average age for new positive test results for Wayne residents continues to remain under fifty.  This week, the average age is 48.  Last week it was 47, the week before was 49, and the average over the last eight weeks is 48 years old. Please note that these are rounded numbers.
