MILLBURN, NJ -The DI-fi's from South Mountain School competed and took second place in the Statewide Tournament for Destination Imagination on March, 29.  Destination Imagination is an organization that provides educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving.

The DI-fi's worked on the Technical Challenge in which they were charged with the task of creating a structure using technology to detect hidden objects, remove them from their hiding spaces, and move them across a finish line.  All of this was incorporated into a skit that was appraised for its creativity and story-telling strength.

The team worked during the school day with Miss Brooke Barski (music teacher at SMS) to strengthen their skills for the Instant Challenge, an additional, "mini" challenge they were presented with at the competition and had only a few minutes' preparation time to solve.  Parent team managers were Michelle Daniel and Alyssa Russo led meetings outside of school.

Also at the Tournament, South Mountain School's team Six Emojis won first place in the improv challenge and will compete in the Global Finals in Tennessee in May.
