SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Further delays have been announced about the opening date of the South Orange Pool, with the latest estimate being "the week of June 18," according to an update on the Village of South Orange website.
This is the third delay announced - after stating it would not open Memorial Day weekend, pool opening dates of June 2 and June 9 were both previously announced on the South Orange website.
According to the update, the new opening date is because "the Village has experienced additional delays with the filter replacement project at the Community Pool."
The update also shared that Maplewood has "been kind enough to welcome South Orange Pool members at their pool this weekend." The Maplewood Community Pool is located at 187 Boyden Avenue, and the weekend hours are noon to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. South Orange residents planning to go to the Maplewood pool must present their current 2018 South Orange Recreation I.D Badge, according to the update.
The Recreation Department update apologized for "for this continued inconvenience" and stated that additional information will be provided on the South Orange Village website at www.southorange.org and/or on twitter @SOPool.
