SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The village will televise a question-and-answer session about East Orange Water Commission on Monday, Sept. 15.
In addition, the village will present options for an alternate water source.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage of the South Orange Performing Arts Center.
The EOWC, the village’s water supplier, has a troubled relationship with the village. South Orange began independently testing water quality after the state Department of Environmental Protection reported in 2011 that the levels of tetrachloroethylene, or PERC, exceeded state limits. The chemical is used for dry-cleaning.
The water supplier was in the news recently after William Mowell, the former assistant executive director of the EOWC, pleaded guilty to falsifying results of testing for PERC.
