SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The village center will be jingling with holiday activities on Saturday, December 7, with Santa making the rounds, a holiday open house and the annual tree lighting ceremony.
From 1 to 3 p.m., Santa will be visiting South Orange shops and restaurants, spreading holiday tidings and making the village the place to do some seasonal shopping. Then, he will be heading over to the lobby of 76 South Orange Avenue (near PNC Bank) where he will be available for free visits and photos from 3 to 5 p.m.
The South Orange Village Center Alliance is also presenting a Shoppers’ Oasis Lounge in the lobby from noon to 5 p.m. Shoppers are invited to come in out of the cold and enjoy some free food and drinks, courtesy of Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks and Ashley Marketplace. There will be live entertainment and free gift-wrapping services available for all.
The events of the day culminate with the lighting of the tree just outside. At 4:30 p.m., there will be music and caroling outside by the Stuft Stocking Brothers, as well as hot chocolate and cookies. Santa will join in the fun at 5 p.m. and help light the tree, capping off a day full of holiday cheer.
Parking will be free in the village center, as are the services in the Shoppers’ Oasis. The tree lighting is sponsored by Keller Williams Mid-Town Direct Realty and The Alternative Press.
