SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club (SPJBC) began its 61st season with its annual parade and a lot of pomp and circumstance. The wind and chill in the air could not put a damper on the day’s events. South Plainfield’s Phil Aiello, Sr. once again was the master of ceremonies.

The Parade’s grand marshall was John Stallone. Stallone was accompanied by family and friends as he led the parade from Roosevelt School to Field #2. Stallone also threw out the opening pitch.

Bill Ashnault and Lee Flanagan were both honored by the SPJBC with Lifetime Membership Awards for their years of service. Outgoing board members Gary Lampasona and Dave Maszczak and former SPJBC Commissioner Mike Pellegrino also received awards.

Mayor Matt Anesh and members of the Borough Council were on hand for the day’s activities. Despite Friday evening's heavy rain, when emcee Aiello said “play ball,” the games were played.
