South Plainfield Man in ‘Critical Condition’ After Edison Car Accident

EDISON, NJ  – A 24-year-old South Plainfield man, the backseat passenger in a Toyota sedan, sustained critical injuries during an accident early Tuesday morning on Route 1 South, said Edison Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Dudash.

James Quesada, 24, suffered severe head, neck and back injuries in the 2:07 a.m. crash on Route 1, near 401 Route 1 South, said police. Quesada remains listed in critical condition today at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

An initial investigation by the department’s Serious Crash Investigation Team indicates that the accident happened when motorist Genna Kocsis, 22, of Fords, veered off the road and hit the curb, a fire hydrant and a utility pole as she tried to change lanes, police said.

A 22-year-old Piscataway woman, who was front-seat passenger in the car, sustained minor injuries in the accident, police said. No charges have been filed, but police Sgt. Dominick Masi is continuing the accident investigation.
