South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) will take part in American Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) annual Field Day event on June 28 (2 PM) through June 29th (2 PM). SPARC will be setting up in the Spring Lake Park Gazebo located across the street from the S.P. Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Ave. The GPS coordinates are: 40.584416 – 74.413292
SPARC invites the public to come and see a demonstration of an event taking place throughout the United States and Canada. The event is sponsored by ARRL and is designed to test the ability of Amateur Radio operators to effectively communicate locally and nationally under temporary, emergency conditions.
The public will be able to participate in the activity by watching demonstrations, asking questions, and learning about the equipment being used. In addition, licensed radio amateurs will have supervised opportunity to operate in the exercise. Picture opportunities with our elected officials and others are scheduled at the Gazebo for Sunday at 12 Noon on June 29, 2014.
