SPARC's 5th Annual Pancake Breakfast

The Summit Performing Arts Resource Committee (SPARC) will host its fifth annual Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 587 Springfield Avenue in Summit, to raise money for performing arts productions and educational programs for Summit public school students.  Throughout the morning, families will be treated to musical performances by Summit school students of all ages while enjoying a delicious pancake breakfast. There will also be a Silent Auction featuring a variety of items. Please see list below.

SPARC plays a vital role in supporting performing arts programs in Summit’s public schools.  Last year, SPARC funded nearly $25,000 in grants to supplement performance budgets at all schools in the district, enable a variety of educational workshops for drama and forensics students, and provide performing arts scholarships for high school seniors.

“The performing arts program in the Summit Public Schools is one of the best in the state,” says Summit Board of Education President Michelle Stevenson. “Productions at our schools introduce our students to the many and varied aspects of theater, revealing true talent in performance, singing and theater technology. As a result, the Summit High School fall drama and spring musical productions have won numerous nominations and awards in the annual Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award competitions and the Montclair State University High School Drama Competition.”

“The Summit schools are fortunate to have such talented students and teachers,” adds Stevenson, “but the achievements of our performing arts program are greatly enhanced by the volunteer and financial contributions of the Summit Performing Arts Resource Committee. The Board of Education is extremely appreciative for all SPARC continues to do to provide such an outstanding theater experience for the students of Summit.”

Tickets for SPARC’s fifth annual Pancake Breakfast are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for children.  Children ages 3 and under are free.  For more information about SPARC and a list of Silent Auction items, visit
