Sparta Baseball 4-0 Over Montville in Quarter-final NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 3

MONTVILLE, NJ-Sparta Baseball won their quarterfinal round of the North Jersey, Section 1 Group 3  NJSIAA tournament  against Montville in a shutout, 4-0. 

With only three days rest, Kevin Foulds was on the mound allowing only one hit and earning nine strikeouts.  Sparta started strong, earning all four runs in the second inning.  TJ Estanislau had a double and scored.  Michael Meisel went 2-3 with two RBIs and a run.  Austin Unglaub was 3-4 with an RBI.

Nick Makowitz and Thomas Ruddy both scored.  Ruddy had a stolen base as well. 

Sparta moves to the semi-final round, facing Mt Olive on May 27.

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a light pole.  On January 9 around 11 p.m. Sparta police Cpl. Kurt Morris responded to the report of a naccident on West Shore Trail near White Deer Plaza according to police.

Sparta Man Speeds Past Police, Faces Numerous Charges

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man faces numerous charges including driving while intoxicated after speeding past a police car on Woodport Road.  Jake Forshey drove past police officer Tom Snyder on January 8 around 2:50 a.m, according to police.
