SPARTA, NJ – Sparta High School baseball hosted Mendham on Thursday winning 6-3.  Mendham was on the board first and led through the bottom of the sixth when Sparta put up five, sealing the win.

It was a team effort with each run coming from a different Spartan.  Austin Blendinger, Travis Brancy, Will Cisko, Brett Coyle, Mike Nauta and Matthew Strubble each crossed the plate.

Whalen and Nauta each had two RBIs, Cisko had one.  Nauta had a double.

Brandon Drapeau got the win with six innings work.  Drapeau gave up six hit, three walks and got two strike outs.  Brendan Muhs also took the mound for an inning for Sparta allowing one hit with three strikeouts.

Sparta’s game against Kittatinny, schedule for Friday on the road, was cancelled.  The next game on their schedule is in Montville on Monday.  The team’s record stands at 12-11.
