SPARTA, NJ - The Sparta boys varsity lacrosse team defeated Pascack Valley in the first  round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Group 2 tournament. After a delayed start, Sparta held Pascack Valley scoreless until the fourth quarter.  Goalie Reagan Penner saved seven shots.

Zack Eberding led for Sparta with three goals. Ryan Brick and Cole Zugleder each had two. Skylar Fransisco, Lucas Faria and Owen Mead each contributed one. Mead also had four assists.

Sparta, now 9-9, will advance to the next round. 

Sparta's girls lacrosse team will travel to Wayne Hills on Tuesday for their second-round of play in the NJSIAA North Jersey Group 3 tournament. They are scheduled for a 4:30 start.
