SPARTA, NJ – Sparta High School girls basketball beat Morris Hills on Friday night 38-26 at home. The girls dominated the first period holding the Scarlet Knights to three points. By the half the Spartans were up by seven.
The booster club hosted a PAL youth basketball night, with door prizes and skill contests at half time. Girls from fourth through eighth grade watched the varsity players, won t-shirts, bags of goodies and tickets to Seton Hall basketball games and Devils ice hockey games.
Emily Dilger led the Spartans with 13 points. She contributed defensively with seven rebounds and three steals.
Ellen Villapado added 10 points to the win. Olivia Bouma-Hannam put up seven points and pulled down eight rebounds. She has a steal as well.
Brianna Falco was a leader on the court, settling the play when patience was required and picking up the pace with quick passes and fast breaks. She added six points, sinking four from the foul line. Falco had nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The girls host Newton on Tuesday.
