ARLINGTON, VA - Cameron Hardy, Sparta High School Class of 2011, was one of 325 student leaders representing more than 200 schools from all 50 states, who were invited by Young Americans for Liberty to participate in the largest event in the organization’s history. YALCon 2014 was held at the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia, from July 31 – August 2.
During the four days of speeches, seminars, networking, and intensive leadership training, the students heard presentations from Rand Paul, a Liberty Caucus featuring a panel of seven members of the House of Representatives -- Rep. Justin Amash, Rep. Thomas Massie, Rep. Walter Jones, Rep. Raul Labrador, Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Rep. Tom McClintock, and Rep. Mark Sanford.
Other speakers included David Boaz of the Cato Institute, Jack Hunter of Rare.us, Jeffrey Tucker, and Glen Greenwald, along with a variety of other presentations including political comedy, music, and a special advance screening of the film, Atlas Shrugged Part 3, which opens in theatres in September. Ron Paul presented the final speech of the event.
Hardy is president of the YAL chapter on the campus of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, where he is a junior majoring in Political Science with a minor in Global Studies.
