Sparta High School Boys Lacrosse Beats Pope John, 11-5


 SPARTA, NJ - The Sparta High School boys lacrosse team defeated Pope John on Wednesday, 11-5.  The cold and rainy weather did not dampen the Spartans' resolve playing on the Lions' turf field.

Skyler Fransisco led the effort for Sparta with three goals and an assist. Zack Eberding contributed two goals and three assists. Owen Mead also had two goals with one assist and three ground balls. John Puszcz, Tyler Mead, Erik Lanyi and Cole Zugelder each had a goal. Nick Clayton recovered three ground balls and Eric Reinhard had two.  Al Falco and Lanyi each had one.  

Reagan Penner was busy in the net with 15 saves.

Connor Klein scored two for Pope John. Lions goalie Ben Williams had six saves.

Sparta's record stands at 6-4 as they travel to Randolph High School for a game on Thursday.

Sparta girls lacrosse will travel to Blair on May 3 for a 2:30 p.m. game.
