SPARTA, NJ- On Friday, June 6, in backyards all around town, there were paparazzi parties in advance of the Sparta High School Prom. The annual rite of passage had streets clogged with cars and busses as parents and prom-goers gathered for the profuctury photo shoot that has become the event before the event. Many of the host families not only provide a beautiful backdrop for the gowns and tuxedos but offer lavish platters of food and pitchers of lemonade and iced tea.
This year's weather was also picture perfect; sun shining in bright blue skies, temperatures cool enough to keep everyone from melting and no humidity to friz the elaborate hairstyles. Though some of the young ladies already had their shoes in their hands, feet uncomfortable, unused to high heels, everyone was happy and excited as they boarded the busses to head off to the dance.
