EDISON, NJ-Sparta High School students traveled to Middlesex County College in Edison for the 22nd annual statewide Science Olympiad. On Tuesday, March 11 Michael Dempsey, Michael Henning, Peter Jin and Veronica LaBell competed at the state level in multiple Science and Engineering events.
The team had qualified to move to the state competition after a good showing at the North Jersey Regional competition on January 16, held at NJIT in Newark.
Dempsey and Henning earned third place medals for the design and performance of a magnetically levitated vehicle. Jin and LaBell took fourth place in the Dynamic Planet event.
The science students were coached by Biology teacher Antonia Adamiak and Technology teacher Mark Meola.
"We are proud of them for their accomplishments and for representing Sparta High School so admirably against the best high schools in the state," said Meola.
