SPARTA,NJ- Sparta Boys Swimming improved to 3-3 with a dominating win over High Point, 102-66. Girls Swimming dropped to 3-3 in a tight battle with an 84-83 loss to High Point.
Tim Johnson and Cullen Walsh each won two individual events and took part in two relay wins. Johnson was victorious in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Freestyle. Additionally, Johnson joined with Ben Lee, Chris Rudel and Connor Nelms in the 200 Medley Relay and anchored the 400 Freestyle Relay with Rudel, Walsh and Peter Valario. Walsh's individual wins were in the 200 and 500 Freestyle, while swimming with Valario, Lee and Roi Mase in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Sparta also picked up wins by Lee in the 50 Freestyle and Rudel in the 100 Breaststroke.
Sparta Girls were lead by double individual wins by Emily Johnson in both 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke and Lindsay Rippey in both 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke. Johnson also swam on the winning 200 Medley Relay with Elizabeth Smith, Katya Jouravlev and Rachel Rippey and on the 400 Freestyle Relay with Smith, Valerie Russo and Lindsay Rippey.
Rachel Rippey posted an individual victory in the 100 Freestyle and Elizabeth Smith took the 200 Individual Medley.
Sparta will participate in the HWS Championships on Saturday at Montgomery High School and return to Kittatinny Regional on Tuesday at 4:00 for Senior Night as they host cross-town rival Pope John in the final dual meet of the year.
