SPARTA, NJ — Sparta High School Wrestling, in collaboration with the Sparta Youth Wrestling Group, will hold their first wrestling tournament in over 20 years. The wrestling tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at the Sparta High School at 8:30 a.m. The day’s matches will be split into two sessions starting with the under-12-year-olds at 8:30 and a 1:30 pm start for High School Wrestlers grades 9-12.
Sparta has a long-time wrestling tradition and is looking forward to hosting a great event for all wrestlers between Kindergarten and 12thgrade. Weigh-ins will be held at the Sparta High School on Friday, June 13 between 6 and 8 p.m. The Scramble will be a Four-Man Round Robin and the Madison System will be used to determine weights.
“It’s been a really long time since Sparta hosted a tournament and I’m just excited to bring it back here. My coaching staff and I, in collaboration with the Boosters, have been working hard to continue to build a strong program for the future of Sparta Wrestling,” said Frank Battaglia, Sparta High School’s Wrestling Coach.
Joe Bitetto, Sparta’s Youth Group coach added, “We’re really pumped and hoping to have a solid turn-out.”

Registration fee is $25 per wrestler and spectators pay a $5.00 admission fee, children 12 and under pay $2.00. There will be concession stands serving food and beverages.
