May 31, 2014 at 6:30 AM

SPARTA, NJ-The Sparta Music Boosters, Inc. awarded eight $500 scholarships to graduating Sparta High School music students.  The award winners submitted applications which were judged by a committee of parents in conjunction with the music department teachers.  All award winners showed significant involvement in musical endeavors, leadership in promoting music, and exemplary performance and attitude in their musical groups.

The award recipients are Linda Carlson, Jared Decker, John Puszcz, and Lauren Waselik for band, Haley Barna and Melissa DiSanti for choir  and  Sean Decker, and Emily Gaab for orchestra.

SMBI has tremendous involvement from the Sparta music parents, who are motivated by the benefits that the Sparta music program has to offer their students.  Aside from awarding scholarships to music students every year, SMBI has been able to provide for items that fall outside what the school district can provide.
