SPARTA, NJ – A  Bellville woman is facing charges for driving while intoxicated though she caught Officer Brian Porter’s attention for sitting still at a green light.  On November 8 around 10 p.m. Porter saw Maria Cerino, 42, in a white BMW stopped in the intersection of Houses Corner Road and Route 15, police said.

When Cerino finally started moving north on Route 15, Porter pulled her over.  The officer smelled alcohol on Cerino’s breath when he spoke with her, police said.

Cerino admitted she drank two Corona beers before she left her house, police said.

Cerino was given field sobriety tests and was then taken to Sparta Police Department headquarters.  After processing and breath testing, Cerino was charged with DWI, failure to keep right and obstruction to passage of other vehicles.  She was given a court date and released to a sober adult.
