SPARTA, NJ- Mark Huelsenbeck, a Sparta High School graduate, is now working as a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, Africa. He is endevouring to build a secondary school for the local community. It is the only secondary school in the area without an actual school building. Mark is hoping to raise $20,000 to make this dream come true for the children.
Teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, and principals at Alpine Elementary and Helen Morgan Schools are having dress down days this month to help raise the money Mark needs to build the school. The staff members who make a contribution to support this effort are buying the opportunity to wear jeans and more relaxed attire than ususal.
Greene's Beans in Sparta is also supporting this cause. Anyone who donates $25 or more will receive a free drink at the coffee house, Greene's Beans, located in the Theater Center.
The local fundraisers to support Huelsenbeck's project were organized by Barbara Kostenko at Alpine Elementary School and Colby Thompson at Helen Morgan School.
