SPARTA, NJ- The Disney Institute came to Sussex county on April 17. The world renown organization came to provide customer service training to local entities, including Sparta township municipal employees. The event at Crystal Springs Resort and Spa in Hamburg was sponsored by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce.
The Disney Institute has been providing professional development to a range of companies in the areas of sports, healthcare, retail and automotive businesses large and small for more than two decades. Their training courses are focus on leadership, service, culture, brand, innovation and business excellence.
According to the organization, " Disney Institute facilitators have years of Disney leadership experience and outside professional experience. Participants benefit from the facilitators' real world experience as Disney leaders across the company."
Sussex County Chamber President, Tammie Horsfield said, “Participants learned a lot about Disney’s legendary customer service. More importantly, they received tools they could use immediately to begin transforming their company or organization’s level of service. Participants seemed very excited about taking what they learned back to the office to begin implementing it.”
The new Sparta Township Manager William Close said there were seven employees from the township that participated in the training session. Denise Amato, Pattie Brown, Kathy Curly, Maureen Donnelly, Victoria Forgione, Michele Hawthorne and Janice Williams attended the Disney Institute training. Close discussed the training at the March council meeting saying it was a good opportunity for municipal employees to have professional development. He said often the people who work in town hall are the first contact people have with Sparta. Close indicated the employees are professionals and it is always good to have training to ensure the level of quality continues to be what people of Sparta have come to expect.
There are several resources available to participants who attend the Disney Institute courses to continue their Disney Institute experience. There is an alumni resource website that provides follow-up activities and worksheets. There are also additional resources available through blog and social media LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
