SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – State Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) will attend the Scotch Plains Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7:00 p.m. This will be his third stop during the month of January to take action against hunger.

Coughlin is partnering with Mayor Al Smith to raise awareness about health and wellness in the state. He recently led the effort to pass 13 bills in the State Assembly to improve people’s access to healthy food and reduce food waste. The bills all passed on a bipartisan basis. The Speaker will discuss his anti-hunger bill package and will be joined by Assembly Members Linda Carter and James Kennedy.

This will be the first time in the history of Scotch Plains that a sitting Speaker of the New Jersey State Assembly will speak at a Town Council meeting.
