WOODLAND PARK, NJ - Officially Woodland Parks annual tree lighting was virtual because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but a high ranking official (an elf who was not on a shelf) told us it was because of the special guests who were flown for the evening.

According to our source, Rudolph and Frosty, flew in with Santa Saturday night after learning about the exceptional job the Woodland Park Recreation Department did with this year's lights. Given their celebrity, and need for a special landing zone for Santa's sleigh, crowds just had to be kept away as landing the sleigh and eight reindeer in Dowling Park is a bit challenging.

Greeting Santa and guests was Mayor Keith Kazmark and Kelly Prior-Spinalli for the evening.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Kazmark refered to the work of the DPW crew as "amazing," and Santa is reported to have repeated Kazmark's words by also refering to the scene as "decorating Dowling Park to the extreme."

At the end of the evening Kazmark and guests could be heard shouting, "Merry Christmas Everyone!"
