Special Programs at the Millburn Library Highlight the Week’s Calendar


MILLBURN, NJ – The Board of Education Meeting and a trio of special programs at the Millburn Free Public Library top this week’s events:

Monday, 2/10:

7:45 p.m. – Board of Education Meeting at the Education Center, 434 Millburn Avenue.

Wednesday, 2/12:

7 p..m. – Millburn Integrated Preschool Information Meeting at South Mountain School, 2 Southern Slope Drive.  Residents are invited to come learn more about the program for three and four-year-old children.


Friday, 2/14:

Noon: Senior Blood Pressure Clinic at the Bauer Community Center


Saturday, 2/15:

2 p.m. -   The second film in the Millburn Free Public Library’s Weird Worlds Film Series will be shown.  The public is invited to a screening of “Koyannisqatsi,” a groundbreaking film by Godfrey Reggio that tells a story without any words, characters or plot.  This program is co-sponsored by the Millburn Free Public Library and the Millburn Short Hills Art Advisory Committee.  Recommended for ages 11 and up.  There will be time after the film for discussion. 


Sunday, 2/16:

2 p.m. -  In celebration of Black History Month, the Millburn Free Public Library will host the program “Meet Scott Joplin.”  Musician Dennis Kobray will dress in period costume and portray a friend of Mr. Joplin.  He will perform a ragtime concert on the library’s piano and inform the audience about the life and times of this American composer.  Please register to save your seat. 

3 p.m. -  Artist’s Reception with local resident Sophie Stockert, whose photographs are on view in the Millburn Library Gallery during all open hours this month.  The photographer will be on-hand for a special reception on Sunday from 3-4 p.m.
