EDISON, NJ – David R. Spevack was appointed by the town council as Prosecutor for the Edison Township Municipal Court Wednesday evening.
The township entered into a professional services contract with Mr. Spevack, which is not to exceed $18,000 in the aggregate for a period of one year through July 22, 2015.
Mr. Spevack currently serves as the Municipal Prosecutor of Woodbridge Township and as a Special Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Newark. He also served as prosecutor for City of Perth Amboy for nearly 4 years.
“I am honored to have been appointed Prosecutor for the Township of Edison," said Mr. Spevack. "I believe my previous experience as a municipal prosecutor and with civil litigation will help me properly serve the people of the township."
Mr. Spevack is a New Jersey trial lawyer that specializes in Litigation, Employment law, and Workers’ Compensation law. He has successfully argued motions for medical and temporary benefits, won trials, and written successful appeals.
“I had the privilege of working with Mr. Spevack on several occasions. He is very thorough and professional,” said Councilwoman Sapana Shah. “He brings a wealth of experience as municipal prosecutor and will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to Edison.”
Mr. Spevack is a graduate from Rutgers Law School and is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York and the United States District Court. He also studied at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, the University of Leiden in the Netherlands and the University of Extremadura in Spain.
Mr. Spevack has traveled extensively through India, China, Morocco, Western Europe and South-East Asia. His travels have brought him an understanding and an appreciation of different cultures. He also speaks Spanish fluently.
