SPF Girls Win Basketball Tournament


SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ - The Scotch Plains-Fanwood varsity girls basketball team defeated Woodbridge, 59-46, on Monday to capture the championship of the Keith Benovengo Memorial Tournament at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

Amani Williams led the Raiders with 15 points and Michaiah Battle finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Madison Maisel handed out five assists to go with 10 points for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, which enters 2014 with a 2-3 record this season.

Thabitha Dwunfour led the Raiders' interior defense with five blocked shots to go with 13 rebounds. Kara Foley netted eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Katie Harper totaled eight points and collected six rebounds and three steals.
