SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD – At Thursday’s Board of Education meeting Dr. David Heisey, Principal of Scotch Plains Fanwood High School, introduced Marie Concepcion, the coordinator of the Barcelona Exchange Program. Ms. Concepcion is a teacher of Spanish at the high school. She introduced students, teachers, parents, and friends of the Exchange Program.

Twelve students travelled to Barcelona and Madrid, and more than a dozen Spanish students stayed with host families in Scotch Plains and Fanwood. High School junior Katherine DeMarco said that the trip to Spain was “one of the most memorable and educational experiences of my life. After travelling to Spain I now realize that I would like to continue my Spanish education into college.”

Mrs. Linda Materna, of the World Language Department at the High School, thanked Ms. Concepcion, the teachers and chaperones, the parents and friends of the program. It was the first full cycle of the exchange program, and gave the students the chance to enjoy an “educational, social, cultural and global experience.”

Under the Personnel Agenda section of the Board of Education meeting it was formerly announced that Mr. Justin Fiory was appointed as the principal of School One Elementary School.
