SPFHS Senior Joins The Alternative Press of Scotch Plains/Fanwood as Student Sports Editor

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -Trevor Skanes, the new student sports editor at The Alternative Press of Scotch Plains/Fanwood, has found a way to combine his two passions, journalism and sports. Trevor is a senior at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School and has been on staff for Scotch Plains Fanwood High School’s newspaper, The Fanscotian for three years. He was the sports editor for The Fanscotian last year and now is one of the editors-in-chiefs for the newspaper.

Last year Trevor won an award from the Garden State Scholastic Press Association, for best news story in division B in the state of New Jersey. He enjoys writing about news and informing his readers of current sports events. Trevor has played basketball since the 5th grade.

For the school year 2013-2014, Trevor will be the student sports editor of the Scotch Plains/Fanwood section of The Alternative Press and will write the SPFHS Sports Wrap Up every week. In his first article he wrote about boys soccer, and girls soccer, football, girls volleyball, Girls Tennis and gymnastics.
