SOUTH AMBOY, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity baseball team defeated South Amboy High School 6-4 under the lights on Thursday at Waterfront Park. Matt Vento hit a three RBI home run to help lead the Chargers to victory. Tyler Lewandowski was three-for-four from the plate with a double and two stolen bases. Eddie Rogers was one-for-three with two stolen bases. Rogers also scored two runs for the Chargers.
George Guyette picked up the win on the mound for Spotswood with seven strikeouts. Nick Villalba closed out the game for the Chargers, pitching the final inning. Zach Honimar was charged with the loss on the mound for South Amboy. Honimar hit a double at the plate while Johhny Gonzalez cracked a home run for the Governors.
Spotswood's overall record improves to 6-4 with the victory over South Amoby. The Chargers division record is 5-1. Spotswood hosts Bishop Ahr High School on Saturday at the Spotswood High School Varsity Baseball Field. First pitch is at 11 a.m.
