SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team's season ended Wednesday with a 4-1 loss to third seeded Point Pleasant Beach High School in the semifinals of the Central Jersey NJSIAA Group One Tournament.

Yesterday's game was played at South Brunswick High School because of Tuesday's heavy rains, Carolina Fernandez scored the only goal for Spotswood on a pass from Alessia Tavella in the second half. Julia Masucci made 18 saves for the Chargers.

Point Pleasant Beach scored all four goals in the first half. Abby Angelucci netted two goals for the Gulls and had one assist. Sarah Shwahla had one goal and one assist and Daryl Monticello scored one goal for Point Pleasant Beach who now move on the the finals to face top seeded Shore Regional High School. Shore defeated 13th seeded South Hunterdon High School 7-1 in the other semifinal game.

McKayla Hughes had two assists for Point Pleasant Beach and Toni Abdy made five saves.

Spotswood finishes their season with a 14-6 overall record. The Chargers were second in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division.
