SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Tuesday's heavy rains postponed the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team's semifinal game with Point Pleasant Beach High School. The game will be played on Wednesday at 2 p.m., but field conditions have forced the matchup to be relocated to South Brunswick High School.
As the second seed in the Central Jersey NJSIAA Group One Girls Soccer Tournament, the Chargers had home field advantage over third seeded Point Pleasant Beach. Spotswood had a first round bye and got to the semifinal round by defeating New Egypt High School 1-0 in overtime on a goal by Amber Meagher. The Gulls defeated Bound Brook and South River High Schools in the first two rounds by lopsided 8-0 shutouts. Both Point Pleasant Beach and Spotswood finished second in their respective conferences.
Top seeded Shore Regional High School and 13th seeded South Hunterdon High School have the other semifinal matchup, which will also be played tomorrow. The finals are scheduled take place on November 9.
South Brunswick High School is located on 750 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction.
