SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity tennis team went all last season without a team win. For the 2018 season, the team is off to a 2-0 start. The girls varsity defeated Perth Amboy High School on September 7, 5-0. All the singles and doubles players won their respective matches in straight sets.

Mirit Girgis defeated Julianna Rodrigues, (6-3, 6-0) to win her first singles match while  Gabriela Zeron, won her second singles match over Melissa Madrid, (6-2, 6-4).  Marina Girgis defeated Sherly Nunez by a score of (6-3, 6-4) for a Spotswood singles sweep. The first doubles team of  Emily Michaels and Alix Lemiere only lost one game in their victory over Sophia Reyes and Yeng Shao, winning (6-1, 6-0) while  Elizabeth Sullivan and Karen Mausser defeated  Keely Grande and Janai Pegeron, (6-4, 6-0) to win their second singles match. Both Chargers doubles teams and Marina Girgis are undefeated to start the fall tennis season.

Spotswood will look to make it 3-0 with a win over John F. Kennedy High School on Wednesday, September 12 when the Chargers travel to Iselin for their first way match of the season. Matches begin at 4 p.m.
