LIVINGSTON, NJ — Hillside Elementary School is currently accepting donations of used or new unwanted items for its upcoming indoor yard sale on April 27. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit Hillside students, and any unsold items will be donated to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Now in its fourth year, the PTA-sponsored Hillside Yard Sale invites Livingston residents to shop for new or gently used household items, clothing, jewelry and accessories, sports equipment, toys and board or video games, books, electronics, tools, small appliances and more. The 5th Grade Committee will run a bake sale simultaneously with the yard sale to provide shoppers with baked goods throughout the event.
“We’re hoping to attract a larger turnout than ever before,” said Hillside PTA member and parent, Jennifer Bonardi. “Whatever the need, shoppers are sure to enjoy the wide collection of items we’ve assembled, as well as the pricing.”
The school is seeking donations in the following groups:
• Kitchens items
• Sports equipment/ gear
• Baby items
• Jewelry/ accessories
• Board games
• Video games
• Small furniture
• Small appliances
• Holiday items
All items should be clean, complete and in good working order. Items should be dropped off outside the Hillside kindergarten doors between April 22 to April 26. Stuffed animals will not be accepted.
The Hillside Yard Sale, Bonardi’s brainchild, was designed to raise funds for programming for the Hillside student body. In keeping with Bonardi’s vision, all proceeds will be exclusively dedicated to enhancing the school’s programs.
“We like to think of it as a win-win for all,” said Bonardi, speaking of the added benefit of helping those affiliated with the Vietnam Veterans of America. “Families get to de-clutter; community bargain hunters get to buy gently used and often new items at deep discounts; the Hillside PTA receives 100 percent profit for its student programs; the remaining items get donated to the Vietnam Veterans of America; and our 5th grade students have an opportunity to enhance the event for the first time this year by raising funds for their graduating class through the addition of the Bake Sale."
Those looking for specific items are encouraged to arrive early, as in-demand inventory is expected to sell out quickly.
The event will be held rain or shine from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the upper gym of Hillside Elementary School, located at 98 Belmont Drive.
