Spring Lake Park Slashing Suspect in Custody

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ- A Daniel Street resident is reporting that the suspect in yesterday’s slashing in Spring Lake Park was in the act of attacking the victim when both a good-Samaritan and an off-duty South Plainfield Police Officer were able to come to the aid of the victim and apprehend the assailant.  The victim apparently suffered a number of wounds to his face.

Yesterday authorities reported the victim was a male believed to be in his 50’s.  The victim was taken by ambulance to John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.  The victim suffered a number of injuries, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.  The South Plainfield Police Department continues to investigate this crime and officials reported yesterday they believe the attack in Spring Lake Park was not a random act.
