SPRINGFIELD, NJ - As a run-up to the festivities celebrating the 225th Anniversary of Springfield's Founding, the Township of Springfield will be closing off several streets for two days this upcoming June.

The measure was announced as a resolution at the township committee meeting and will close Meisel Avenue from the intersection of Linden Avenue to the Intersection of Milltown Road. Only Emergency Vehicles will be allowed on the following days:

  • Saturday, June 22, 2019 between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for reenactment and 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for fireworks
  • Sunday, June 23, 2019 between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for the second day of the reenactment

The resolution stated that the closures were approved based on the advice of Chief John Cook. While the festivites will take place in June, the official anniversary of the town is April 14, the date th town was incorporated in 1794.
