Founded in 1950 by the Religious Teacher Filippini, the Academy is dedicated to offering students the opportunity of growing in faith and of living the principles of truth, charity, and Christian hope. In this environment, students are encouraged to strive for their maximum academic potential and spiritual growth. The dedication and focus on values are important to parents.
Current parent Lisa Byrne stated: “We decided to send our children to SBA for two reasons. One, we believe that, in the elementary and middle school years, learning and growing are best done in a close-knit family-oriented community. And two, that the development of children’s’ hearts and character are equally critical to the development of their minds. We are grateful that SBA challenges them academically in a warm, safe and caring environment.”
All St. Bartholomew Academy teachers integrate technology into daily lessons using Smart Boards, educational websites, a computer lab, and tablets, or Chromebooks, in order to enrich learning. Every student in Grade 5 through Grade 8 is assigned a Chromebook for daily in-school use. Pre K through Grade 4 has access to tablets and a 26 desktop computer lab. The goal of the Middle School Program is to prepare students for the academic rigor and study habits needed to succeed in high school.
Michaela Lee, a graduate from the Academy and current Sophomore at Union Catholic and summed up her experience at St. Bartholomew’s by saying “SBA prepared me for high school by helping me keep my grades up and showed me what to expect at the next level.”
