PLAINFIELD, NJ - Local Plainfield resident Robert Graham invites the public to attend the “State of Urban School District Address” on Tuesday, Feb. 26 to hear keynote speaker Baruti Kafele, a former educator and leading school leadership expert in New Jersey. He will provide attendees with an empowering message of attitude transformation and teach parents and educators to create conditions to foster children’s success.
Kafele has authored several books on professional development strategies for creating a positive school climate and culture, transforming the attitudes of at-risk students, motivating Black males to excel in the classroom, and providing school leadership practices to inspire schoolwide excellence.
TAPinto Plainfield spoke with event sponsor Graham, a.k.a. Mr. Plainfield, who hosted a similar event in 2009 that he said was well received and provided value to the community. Giving back to the community is his main goal, and he aims to bring ideas to the table for parents, educators and community stakeholders in general.
Graham’s passion for education came about from his time as PTO chair at Maxson Middle School when his own children were in the public school system. Graham recalls the strength of the PTO and the partnerships between the parents, the teachers and the school staff.
There is limited seating at the event, and advanced registration is required at www.weareplainfield.org. Dinner will be provided, and the program begins at 6 p.m. in the Anne Louise Davis Room at the Plainfield Public Library, 800 Park Ave.
