Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) will discuss key issues and take questions from the online audience in a Facebook Live event on Thursday, April 26 at 6:45 p.m.
Questions will be accepted in advance and during the live stream.
Hosted by Action Together New Jersey, this event is the second in a series designed to give voters and activists direct access to elected representatives and candidates through online, town hall-style events.
According to Action Together, the series is designed to encourage open dialogue and increase public engagement in the run-up to the midterm elections and beyond. Further interactive sessions will be announced in coming months.
The Q&A was organized by the Action Together Environment Team following a meeting with Sen. Menendez, during which he highlighted his environmental protection and clean energy initiatives.
“We appreciate the opportunity to continue the discussion of our shared priorities and concerns with the senator,” said organizer Christine Clarke, Action Together’s environmental policy director. “Addressing anthropogenic climate change is the great challenge of our generation, and we need accountable leadership taking decisive action to protect us all.”
Uyen “Winn” Khuong, executive director of Action Together, said it is “important” for “progressive New Jersey activists” to not only “voice our concerns to our elected representations, but to hear from them about legislation that’s in the pipeline and where they stand on the issues.”
“Streaming Q&As like this one with Senator Menendez and our previous one with Senator Booker bring the legislators right into our living rooms to speak to us directly,” Khuong said. “ATNJ is pleased to be able to facilitate this kind of interaction.”
