The Morris County Office of Emergency Management is currently watching for the development of a storm later this afternoon and evening.
At this point, thunderstorms are still at least a couple hours away. We expect scattered clusters to begin developing around the area between about 3-4 p.m. Storms are expected to expand through the late afternoon hours to become likely after 5 p.m.
Storms could be strong to isolated severe this evening with wind gusts to 50 miles per hour possible in the strongest storm area.
Expect heavy rain and numerous lightning strikes. Most of the storms should diminish and exit east of Morris County after 9 p.m. or so but may linger through midnight-2 a.m.The current forecast data also indicates the possibility of storm/rain for Tuesday PM and evening. Morris, Sussex and Warren counties currently have a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 11 p.m.
