Successful Event at Sparta Lanes

SPARTA, NJ – On Saturday and Sunday Melissa and Peter Prestipino coordinated a fundraiser for Nicholas DaSilva at the Sparta Lanes.  There were several facets to the event including a tricky tray type raffle and lane sponsorship.  The bowling alley also donated $1 on every regular game bowled.  They were able to raise $2141 to help the DaSilva family with young Nicholas’s medical bills.

Six year-old DaSilva was diagnosed with Burkett’s Lymphoma last year.  He has had to undergo extensive chemotherapy and several surgeries.  The treatments have exhausted the family’s finances.

Melissa Prestipino said, “It is always a challenge to bring bowlers inside during sunny summer days, especially on weekends. It’s especially challenging when other outside events such as the NJ State Fair, which happens once a year, are being held.  However, when it comes to helping a child, the community pours inside.”

Sparta Lanes was very appreciative of all of the local sponsors who supported the event with monetary and gift donations.  Prestipino added, “Without having the outside support, the fundraiser would not have been such a big success.”
