SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit has been notified of 59 positive cases of COVID-19 by the Westfield Regional Health Department (WRHD). The cases reflect a three-day period from December 1-3. Thirty-nine percent (39%) of the most recent cases confirmed are individuals 24-years-old or younger.

The new cases bring Summit's total number of cases since the pandemic's onset to 793.

Of the most recent cases, the WRHD has released the following case detail:

  • 41 cases are still under investigation;
  • Six (6) cases report no known exposure;
  • Seven (7) cases with positive household contacts;
  • Two (2) cases unable to contact;
  • One (1) case refused interview;
  • One (1) case is associated with long-term care facility; and
  • One (1) case hospitalized (age 66).

The case age breakdown is as follows:

  • 13 cases ages 18 and younger; 
  • 10 cases ages 19 to 24; 
  • Two (2) cases ages 25 to 29; 
  • Seven (7) cases ages 30 to 34; 
  • Two (2) cases ages 35 to 39;
  • Four (4) cases ages 40 to 44; 
  • Four (4) cases age 45 to 49; 
  • Three (3) cases ages 50 to 54; 
  • Two (2) cases ages 55 to 59; 
  • Nine (9) cases ages 60 to 64; 
  • Two (2) cases ages 65 to 69; and
  • One (1) case age 85 to 89.
