Laughter is the best medicine for helping to build strong communities and is often the key to what the Y does to accomplish its mission to promote healthy living, nurture youth development, and inspire a sense of caring and social responsibility among members in the community. Funds raised will provide much needed Y Cares financial assistance scholarships for children, adults, and seniors who are eager and willing but may be unable to participate in the YMCA’s health and wellness programs for financial reasons. The YMCA has an open door policy and welcomes all people regardless of age, gender, race, or financial circumstance.
Six local area restaurants have also agreed to donate up to 15% of the proceeds of the bill for those Summit Area YMCA members who eat at or order from their eatery on specially designated days leading up to the LOL event. These include La Pasteria, Beacon Hill Tavern, and Village Trattoria in Summit, Friendly’s in New Providence, and Trattoria Di Francesco and Delicious Heights in Berkeley Heights. Restaurant redemption coupons can be picked up at one of the Summit Area YMCA’s three local branches (Summit YMCA at 67 Maple Street in Summit, Berkeley Heights YMCA at 55 Springfield Ave in Berkeley Heights, and The Learning Circle at 95 Morris Avenue in Summit) the weeks of October 15 and October 22. Major sponsors including Investors Bank, Merck Animal Health, Merck Consumer Care, Smythe Volvo, Sysco, Hunter Technologies, Sum It Up for Girls Lacrosse, and Batavia Café.
