Summit BPW to Award $24,000 in Educational Scholarships; Awards Dinner June 16

June 11, 2014 at 9:36 AM

SUMMIT, NJ - This Summit Business and Professional Women (BPW) Scholarship Foundation has announced that it will award $24,000 in scholarships to twelve recipients, half of which are high school seniors, and half are continuing education students pursuing career advancement through post-secondary training.

The annual BPW Scholarship Awards Dinner event will be hosted on June 16, from 6:30 - 9 p.m., at The Grand Summit Hotel, and is open to the public.

Each year, the foundation selects the winners based on merit, achievements, and by their individual performance during an in-depth interview selection process administered by BPW scholarship facilitators.

Although the organization has traditionally awarded each recipient $1,500, BPW President Jacquie Jacovino said, “I felt this year the scholarship award dollar amounts should be increased to $2,000, reflecting the higher cost of education, and the exceptionally high caliber of applicants reviewed.  Our board agreed, so we voted to make this increase with hopes the extra amount of financial aid will help mitigate some of the rising educational costs facing these young women.”

In addition to the scholarship monies, BPW announced that they will be offering three stipends of $500 each.  The sponsors of the stipends are Glisel Jimenez State Farm Insurance Co. of Summit;  matching funds from State Farm Corporate; and Sandy Lascari, Esq., in memory of her Mother, Madeline Lascari.

Summit BPW is a not for profit organization that attracts women from all walks of life and business backgrounds who endeavor to advance education for women through the Scholarship Foundation.

Admission to the dinner is $50, and is payable via check or cash.  To RSVP for the event, contact meetingrsvp@summitbpw.org.   The Grand Summit Hotel is located 570 Springfield Avenue.
