SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit Fire Department (SFD) made quick work of an early-morning fire at a residence located at 51 Huntley Road.
At 6:29 a.m. today, the SFD responded to the report of a structure fire at the structure and, upon arrival, firefighters discovered a blaze in the basement of the home. Crews were able to contain the fire to the basement and effectively extinguish it on the lower level.
The fire was declared under control at 7:08 a.m.
One resident was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and transported by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to Overlook Medical Center. No injuries were reported to firefighters or first responders.
The Summit Police Department assisted at the scene along with Millburn, New Providence, and Springfield and Union Fire Departments, with Fire Departments from Berkeley Heights, Mountainside and Westfield called to provide station coverage.
The fire is being investigated by the Summit Fire Department Investigation Unit.
